01.02.01 - Restore Priority Meadows, Wetlands, and Lake Tahoe Tributaries

Description

Tahoe’s meadows, streams and rivers have suffered impacts from historic logging, grazing, road construction, residential and commercial development, recreational roads and trails, golf courses and ski resorts. EIP partners are working together to restore several high priority watersheds in the Basin that provide valuable ecosystem services and improve Lake Tahoe’s clarity and water quality. This action priority includes restoring the natural flow of tributaries, reconnecting floodplains, removing encroaching conifers, reducing erosion within and adjacent to stream channels and revegetating and stabilizing stream banks.
