Description

Millions of visitors travel to the Lake Tahoe regional annually to access public lands for recreation. While over 80% of the land in the Tahoe region is public, there is private inholding in many areas, particularly on Lake Tahoe’s shoreline.  The focus of this action priority is to improve access in a variety of forms. Priorities will be placed on public acquisitions that increase the amount of public land or unlock other public lands through key access points.

Projects include:

  • Public land acquisitions to increase recreation opportunities.
  • Increase available access points to public land both in the backcountry and Lake Tahoe’s shoreline.
