Community Wildfire Protection Program Upgrade Priority Water Infrastructure to Fight Catastrophic Wildfire
NTPUD owns the Carnelian Bay water system on the north shore of Lake Tahoe which is located at the wildland urban interface in North Tahoe. There are approximately 300 residential and commercial customers in this system. There was an existing 2,500 linear foot 2-inch diameter watermain that was deficient in fire flows with no fire hydrants. This watermain has been replaced with a new 3,500 linear foot 12-inch watermain with fire hydrants spaced at 500 feet along NLB. The new watermain was extended to the Fulton Water System boundary for a future intertie connection for reliability and redundancy of water supply. This is a high-capacity intertie at 12-inches in diameter.
