2016 NDF-SFA Fuels Reduction and Community Education and Outreach - Forest Thinning Component

This project will reduce hazardous fuels and restore forest health on 20.5 acres of privately owned property within the Wildland Urban Interface of Incline Village, NV. There are 27 homes within and adjacent to the project area and 670 more homes within one-quarter mile. Two of the parcels serve to connect current and planned fuels reduction projects on federally owned land managed by the USFS. Crews will hand thin hazardous fuels to reduce potential fire behavior to a level that permits direct attack by first responders. Cut material will be piled and burned, or left on site in preparation for understory burning.
