Watershed Restoration Program
Restore Priority Meadows, Wetlands, and Lake Tahoe Tributaries
This project will replace a log bridge spanning Griff Creek that collapsed in 2013. Since its collapse, the public has been traversing through the creek to gain recreational access. This use has degraded the sensitive stream environment.
The USDA Forest Service, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit applied for and was awarded a California State Parks OHMVR Commission grant in August 2020 for $243,618 to replace the bridge.
Conservancy staff received authorization from their Board in June 2021 to provide up to $150,000 in Habitat Conservation Fund (HCF) funding to serve as a match to the LTBMU grant.
Anticipated construction of the new bridge will begin August 2026.
