Stormwater Management Program
Reduce Stormwater Pollution From: Roads and Highways, Forest Roads, Public and Private Parcels
The Bijou Area Erosion Control Project - Phase 1 will treat stormwater runoff from the Bijou commercial area, adjacent to Lake Tahoe. The Bijou Commercial Core is 47 acres of nearly 100% impervious area, including US Highway 50, commercial properties, and City roads. Project construction includes: (1) Construction of a regional treatment system for Commercial Core runoff which will be pumped through an underground force main to infiltration basins in the upper watershed; and (2) Replacement of the Bijou Creek storm drain system that conveys storm water runoff from the 1,300-acre Bijou Creek watershed, through the Commercial Core, to Lake Tahoe.
