02.01.03 - Upgrade Priority Water Infrastructure to Fight Catastrophic Wildfire

Description

The goal of this action priority is to improve water distribution systems and regional interconnectivity to better respond to forest fires. There are currently many communities in Lake Tahoe that do not have the water infrastructure capable of defending against the threat from wildfire. Local PUDs and fire districts have come together to identify the top priorities for infrastructure upgrades. Currently the top 5 priority locations are identified in the EIP.

Projects include:

  • Expanding the capacity of waterlines
  • Expanding and upgrading water tanks and wells for firefighting
  • Improving connections to underserved areas
