In 2023 the CUTL dive team covered 4.84 underwater miles at Fallen Leaf Lake as part of a pilot litter collection project. During this remediation, the team found Fallen Leaf Lake to be the dirtiest lake in organizational history, based on litter items collected by mile. Over 10 days, the team collected 8,322.9 lbs of litter including 3,310 litter items. Notably the team removed 644 tires from Fallen Leaf Lake. The team was not able to complete a full circumnavigation of Fallen Leaf Lake due to a lack of funding. Clean Up the Lake is actively looking for funding in order to return to the lake to complete the pilot litter remediation and complete the establishment of a baseline litter dataset
