Community Wildfire Protection Program Reduce Hazardous Fuels
The Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District will treat approximately 16 acres of US Forest Service lands of the Upper Kingsbury Area to the East of Andria Street . Treatment will consist of hand treatment, prescribed burning, and forest fuels mastication to create a “Shaded Fuel Break” as defined by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group; Fuel breaks built in timbered areas where the trees and brush on the break are thinned and pruned to reduce the fire potential yet retain enough crown canopy to make a less favorable microclimate for surface fires.
