Community Wildfire Protection Program Reduce Hazardous Fuels
The LVFPD will be responsible for planning and preparing for the implementation of high priority fuels reduction and wildfire prevention projects on state, local government, and private lands in the South Shore area of the Lake Tahoe Basin (Basin). This work will be done in coordination with the Conservancy, the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team (TFFT), the Tahoe Resource Conservation District, and other Basin partners. Once implemented, the fuels reduction and wildfire prevention projects will help to restore the resilience of Basin forests and watersheds, foster Basin-wide climate change adaption, reduce fire risk for communities, and increase the capacity for planning and implementing projects.
