Aquatic Invasive Species Program Prevent, Control, or Eradicate Aquatic Invasive Species
Laminar flow aeration (LFA) utilizes air diffusers, air compressors and air lines to add millions of very small air bubbles to the entire water column with the purpose of making it an oxygen rich environment. The oxygen rich environment has the potential to increase decomposition of the organic layer at the bottom of a waterbody, or in this case the marina. The organic layer is used as food for plants and by reducing it there is potential to reduce plant populations as well. This pilot project will test the efficacy of LFA in Ski Run Marina. Results are encouraging and additional funds are being sought to research results and expand treatment further into the marina channel (lake-ward).
