Aquatic Invasive Species Program
Prevent, Control, or Eradicate Aquatic Invasive Species
The aquatic plant removal implemented at Tahoe Vista boat launch is part of a multi-year lake-wide strategy to remove aquatic invasive plants from the nearshore of Lake Tahoe Basin. Eurasian watermilfoil was detected at the boat launch in 2016. Contracted divers installed lake-bottom barriers in 2017 and 2018 to control this infestation. From 2018-2020, divers conducted surveillance monitoring to ensure that a re-infestation of Eurasian watermilfoil does not develop at this site. Funding dependent, this site will be monitored according to the Lake Tahoe Aquatic Plant Monitoring Program (2020).
