Aquatic Invasive Species Program
Prevent, Control, or Eradicate Aquatic Invasive Species
The aquatic plant removal work implemented at Crystal Shores West, Crystal Shores East, and Crystal Shores Villas was part of a multi-year lake-wide strategy to remove aquatic invasive plants from the nearshore of Lake Tahoe Basin. From 2014-2016, contracted divers used lake-bottom barriers, diver-assisted suction removal, and hand-pulling to remove 100% of the Eurasian watermilfoil in all three marinas. From 2017-2019, contracted divers surveyed all three marinas several times during the growing season and hand-pulled any plants detected (2 total).
