Watershed Restoration Program
Restore Priority Meadows, Wetlands, and Lake Tahoe Tributaries
The creek and wetland complex found along Polaris Creek has been significantly impared due to development of residential and recreational facilities. The degraded wet meadow habitat areas adversely impact the associated fish and wildlife habitat values, and these disturbances have significant impacts on water quality, floodplain processes, and fish passage. In Phase I, an Opportunities and Constraints Feasibility Analysis has been conducted to explore the restoration potential of the Polaris Creek and Wetland complex while also addressing and accommodating recreational uses that currently occur at this site; a ball field, playground, campground, and restroom/parking facilities.
