Implement Programmatic Monitoring and Reporting
This was a two-year survey project for Northern Goshawks and Spotted Owls in the east Lake Tahoe Basin. Prior to this project, there was little information on current nesting for these two species in the study area. Work consisted of broadcast surveys and stand searches for both species across an extensive area of the Carson Range during 2015 and 2016. We targeted suitable habitat and various forestry and trail project areas. We were able to locate successful nests for each species, including Nevada's only known Spotted Owl nest, and will work with our forestry and land management partners to ensure the protection of these sites into the future.
