Transportation Program Operate and Maintain Transit Systems
Microtransit service started on the South Shore July 2022 and expanded in January 2024. The South Shore Transit Management Association contracts with Downtowner to provide the Lake Link service, with free rides between any location in the service area. The expanded service area extends from Round Hill in Douglas county, NV to the Sierra Tract neighborhood the City of South Lake Tahoe, CA. The first year was a success, averaging over 10,000 riders per month. In the first month of expanded service, ridership increased 84% compared to 2023 with over 24,000 riders. Microtransit reduces traffic congestion, improves quality of life for locals and the visitor experience, and reduces GHGs
