Community Wildfire Protection Program
Upgrade Priority Water Infrastructure to Fight Catastrophic Wildfire
This project replaces approximately 6,000 Linear Feet of 2” and 4” water main that is undersized for supporting fire hydrants in two adjacent, densely populated neighborhoods within the City of South Lake Tahoe. The Takela/Fremont neighborhood is primarily multi-familly residences and a few commercial businesses; the project will install 8” mains and 5 new fire hydrants at less than 500 ft spacing to provide fire flow in excess of 1500 gpm. The Deer Park neighborhood is primarily small, closely spaced early Tahoe cabins; the project will install 8” mains and 15 new fire hydrants at less than 500 ft spacing to provide fire flow in excess of 1500 gpm.
