Community Wildfire Protection Program Upgrade Priority Water Infrastructure to Fight Catastrophic Wildfire
Replacement of 330 linear feet of 6-inch water main with new 8-inch water main and replacement of one fire hydrant to meet NLTFPD code requirements. This project is a continuation of the multi-year program to replace 1960's era thin wall steel water mains and other deficient water mains. Replacement criteria is twofold: Replace those water mains with the most leaks and in streets with aging pavement. Since our water loss is now less than 6%, our main objective is to work closely with the Washoe County Road Department to replace water mains just prior to the County's repaving the street. Project enhances fire protection capabilities on private, local, state, and federal lands.
