Community Wildfire Protection Program Upgrade Priority Water Infrastructure to Fight Catastrophic Wildfire
STPUD deficiencies in fire flows and the number and spacing of fire hydrants did not meet current fire codes on several streets in the grid. The Bowers/Bijou Area is located within the South Tahoe Public Utility District service area. The properties on the street are served by undersized water mains (2 to 4 inches in diameter) and cannot support fire hydrants adequately for required fire suppression. Additionally, the number and spacing of fire hydrants do not meet current fire codes on several streets in the grid. These residential properties also have daily flow and pressure deficiencies.
