Community Wildfire Protection Program Upgrade Priority Water Infrastructure to Fight Catastrophic Wildfire
The Carnelian Bay water system on the north shore of Lake Tahoe is adjacent to a private water company (Fulton Water Co.) and cannot provide adequate fire protection from either the NTPUD system or the Fulton System due to inadequately sized waterlines and a lack of fire protection (hydrants). This project would improve the ability of both water systems to provide sufficient fire protection by replacing approximately 3,000 lf of 2” watermain with a 12” watermain, installation of 6 fire hydrants (every 500 feet), and installation of an intertie connection at the end of the District’s system for emergency interconnection provisions with Fulton Water Company.
