Community Wildfire Protection Program
Implement Defensible Space on Public and Private Parcels and Utility Corridors
This defensible space enhancement project with the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District thinned trees on 42 acres of land owned by 40 different individuals. Goal was to restore parcel forests to a healthier density. At the conclusion of project, defensible space around homes was expanded. Lean, clean, green zones are have been enhanced among closely spaced cottage and single family homes. This project aligns with the Lake Tahoe - Community Wildfire Protection Plan and reduces wildfire risk in a designated Highest Priority Tier 1 Zone.
