Community Wildfire Protection Program
Reduce Hazardous Fuels
The Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District will treat between 90 to 115 acres of forestland within the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) along the US Highway 50 corridor between Glenbrook and Zephyr Cove, NV. This treatment will help to modify potential fire behavior such that firefighters will be able to safely protect life, property, and the environment from an approaching wildland fire. This project will also drastically increase the sustainability of the ecosystems by returning the environment back to a more “natural” landscape in terms of vegetation/tree density and species composition. Treatment will include thinning and removal of fuels within the project areas.
