Community Wildfire Protection Program
Reduce Hazardous Fuels
The North Tahoe and Meeks Bay Community Wildfire Protection Plan Implementation Project reduced hazardous vegetation on 137 acres in the wildland-urban interface. The areas targeted for treatment included 514 priority acres of private and local government land in both North Tahoe Fire Protection District (NTFPD) and Meeks Bay Fire Protection District, however 137 acres were treated as part of this project. Recent interagency planning efforts identified this acreage as a priority to serve the goals of the Lake Tahoe Basin Multi-Jurisdictional Fuel Reduction and Wildfire Prevention Strategy, and to complete treatments identified in the Lake Tahoe Basin Community Wildfire Protection Plan, 2015
