Restore Priority Meadows, Wetlands, and Lake Tahoe Tributaries
Restoration of Saxon Creek targeting the eroding channel, removal of a fish passage barrier, and restoration of three meadows. The watershed above the road is no longer connected to the floodplain due to previous land uses and conifer encroachment. The project includes NEPA and permitting. This restoration project will occur in three phases. Phase 1: Completed 2018. Replacement of aquatic organism passage barrier at Fountain Place Road. Phase 2: Completed 2022, Adapt. Mgmt 2023. Restore 1,000 feet of channel and floodplain upstream and downstream of the bridge installation area. Phase 3: Channel and meadow restoration in three meadows (60 acres total). Anticipated implementation 2026.
