Watershed Restoration Program
Restore Priority Meadows, Wetlands, and Lake Tahoe Tributaries
The project included the installation of a geomorphically correct crossing under U.S. Highway 50, removal of a portion of a parking lot for restoration to floodplain, spot treat headcuts upstream of Highway 50, and install conveyance improvements along the highway. In addition, Phase II of the project realigned Burke Creek directly downstream of Highway 50 and installed stormwater treatment infrastructure on U.S. Forest Service land. These improvements eliminated the discharge of untreated stormwater to Burke Creek thereby reducing the transport of fine sediment particles, phosphorus, and nitrogen to Lake Tahoe.
