Watershed Restoration Program Restore Priority Meadows, Wetlands, and Lake Tahoe Tributaries
The Project is a large, multiple phase effort to restore the Upper Truckee River and marsh. In 2025, the Conservancy will complete a phase that includes new pilot channels and wetlands, an accessible to all pedestrian trail to Lake Tahoe, and aquatic invasive species removal. With the recent acquisition of the Knox Johnson and former Motel 6 property, the Conservancy is initiating planning for a new phase to restore the southern portion of the Marsh. Planning will begin in 2025 and likely includes creating wetlands by removing fill, removing conifers, enhancing the river channel, and improving public access.
