Stewardship Program
Engage Communities in Environmental Stewardship
This project tracks wood stove retrofits or removal within the El Dorado County portion of the Tahoe Basin. On July 17, 2007, the El Dorado County Board of Directors approved funding for the woodstove/fireplace replacement incentive program (Chimney Smoke Reduction Incentive Program), to encourage homeowners to permanently remove or replace older wood stoves or fireplaces with cleaner burning devices to improve winter air quality through reduction of particulate matter (PM) emissions caused by inefficient residential wood combustion. In 2013, TRPA added additional funds to allow for an additional $300 for replacements within the Tahoe Basin. These were federal settlement funds.
