Science Program Implement Programmatic Monitoring and Reporting
Funding would enable the further development and implementation of the Interagency Tahoe Status and Trend Monitoring and Evaluation Program. Actions are development and implementation of priority status and trend monitoring, evaluation and reporting needs, including and not limited to: lake clarity, AIS, Fire Risk, Vegetation Health, Impervious Cover, Mobility, Stormwater, Air Quality, sensitive species, Stream bioassessment and LTIMP. Includes research associate with the identification of meaningful and quantifiable indicators of condition and standards representing desired condition. Synthesis and review and/or conventional research proposals should address all of the following: (1) Synthesize and review previous and ongoing research efforts need to identify scientifically-supported environmental indicators for a specific topic area of agency interest. (2) Prepare a monitoring and evaluation plan that can be implemented to measure the identified indicators and report on long-term status and trends of environmental threshold area considering basin-wide needs, regulatory/programmatic requirements, statistical reliability, and agency financial constraints. (3) As appropriate, conduct pilot testing of field, analysis, data management and reporting protocols and procedures included in new or existing monitoring plans to support refinements that maximize the utility of these protocols and procedures to agencies. And (4) complete analyses to assess how the proposed new indicators compare to existing relevant indicators. Include funding existing monitoring efforts such as LTIMP Tributary, Lake Clarity, Air Quality, Stream Bioassessment, Sensitive Species, Recreation Quality, Scenic Quality, Vegetation Health, Fire/Fuels, etc.
