Sustainable Recreation Program Improve Public Recreation Facilities
The focus of the Bijou Bike Park is to provide skill graded progression for beginner to expert riders by helping to develop a wide range of bike skills including balancing, bike handling and jumping. The main elements of the bike park included the construction of a kids skill zone, pump tracks, slope style lines and the relocation of an existing BMX track. The BMX track consists of a series of earth work berms, jumps and table tops with a mechanized starting gate. The kids zones and kids skills park are comprised of more 'built' features like wooden ramps, wooden log rides, strategically placed boulders, jumps, along with bermed corners and wall rides.
