Community Wildfire Protection Program Upgrade Priority Water Infrastructure to Fight Catastrophic Wildfire
NTPUD owns the Lake Forest No. 3 water system which is located at the wildland urban interface in North Tahoe at the bottom of Dollar Hill. The water system is comprised of watermains ranging from 2 inches to 8 inches in diameter. The system is deficient in fire flows and in the number and spacing of fire hydrants and does not meet current fire codes. The project would install 3,000 linear feet of new 8- and 10- inch watermains to replace the existing 2- and 3-inch diameter steel watermains. Three new fire hydrants would be installed that would be accessible from North Lake Boulevard. The new upsized watermains would also be equipped with a connection point for an intertie with Fulton Water
