Community Wildfire Protection Program Implement Defensible Space on Public and Private Parcels and Utility Corridors
This project tracks fire defensible space inspections (DSIs) performed by multiple partners in the Tahoe Basin beginning in 2017. Prior to 2017, inspections were tracked in this EIP Project: 02.01.01.0050 - Fuels Treatment on Non-Federal Lands. Defensible space is the cleared area around homes that reduces wildfire intensity. It helps homes survive when wind-blown embers land nearby. It helps protect homes and gives firefighters safer access to defend them. Defensible space inspections on private parcels are conducted in California by the SLFR, LVFPD, NTFPD, and CALFIRE; and in Nevada TDFPD and NLTFPD. This project does not track the amount of money spent on DSIs
