Community Wildfire Protection Program
Reduce Hazardous Fuels
The TSRA SNPLMA Round 16 Hazardous Fuels Reduction project thinned forest stands and reduced fire fuels on 4 acres of Tahoe State Recreation Area property. This project was designed to reduce tree densities in order to modify fire behavior to reduce the potential for a catastrophic, stand replacement fire and increase the protection of life and property. Thinning by hand crews reduced ladder fuels, diseased trees and promotes large resilient residual trees. Thinned trees and dead and downed woody debris were chipped and or hauled off site.
