Aquatic Invasive Species Program
Prevent, Control, or Eradicate Aquatic Invasive Species
Aquatic plant removal at Fleur du Lac Marina and the outer harbor is part of a multi-year lake-wide strategy to remove aquatic invasive plants from the nearshore of Lake Tahoe Basin. Bottom barriers, diver-assisted suction removal, and hand-pulling were used from 2016-2018 to reduce the Eurasian watermilfoil infestation to 0% cover. From 2018-2020, divers conducted surveillance monitoring to ensure there is not a re-occurence of this infestation. Surveillance monitoring was not conducted in 2021, but is expected to be re-initiated in 2021 and will continue to occur at this site annually (funding-dependent).
